Tipia Ormenisului is a limestone hill with a height of 755.9 m ASL (above sea level), situated between Valea Cetatii ("Fortress Valley") (Tipiei, Racilor) and the Olt Valley, to the right and to a [departare] of about 500 m [fata de] this. Systematic excavations began in the year 1981 (Ioan Glodariu, Florea Costea) and [s-au desfaturat] without interruption, to the accompanying objectives: the Dacian fortress with stone wall, the sanctuary within and outside [intra- and extra mural - intra- si extra muros], "[cazarma]", the [antropogene] terraces of the Hallstatt and of the Latene periods.
In the 2000 campaign (01 - 30 August) excavation looked exclusively at the fortified premises. The importance of [distinguishing - differing - deosebita] consisted of rigorous delimiting of the sacred zone and the military zone, [marcarea] were made [printr-un] a wall parapet with a present height of 1 - 1.2 m and width of 1.5 - 2 m. Of the total length of the fortress, 75 metres represents the zone with military structures, the rest of the 25 metres [revenind] the sacred zones. [S-a constatat] [inca] [o data] that in this part (North North West) of the wall the fortress was not [settled - laid down - arranged] by an artificial level, [ci] direct by the Hallstatt level.
The importance of [distinguishing - differing - deosebita] of [? - buildings - edificiilor] [de pe] Tipia Ormenisului [impune] urgent restoration of the the large circular sanctuary on the southern terrace (for which has existed for many more years a project in the smallest detail), as well as [a celui] with [aliniamente], from the premises, of [carui] base of columns made in large part identifying in [grohotisurile] on the [pantele] of the north and south of the hill.
The bibliography for the circular sanctuary: Ioan Glodariu, Florea Costea, in: Ephemeris Napocensis, 1. For the annual campaign of excavation see Cronica, [punctul] Raco?; [in sinteza], Florea Costea, Repertoriul arheologic al judetului Brasov ("The Archaeological Repertoire of Brasov County"), 1, Brasov, 1995; 2, Brasov, 1996, [sub] [vocea] Racos for each [period - age - epoch - epoca ] .
[Atat] to Racos - Piatra Detunata, [as well as - cat si] to Augustin - Tipia Ormenisului is [spoken - vorba] of continuing excavations.
In the 2001 campaign [se preconizeaza] [closing = incheierea] of the [sapaturilor] at the site of Tipia Ormenisului, concluding their being in [masura] permiting [intocmirea] the projects of restoration for the other monuments: [cazarma], the sanctuary with [aliniamente], [turnuri] etc.
The materials resulting from [both = ambele] sites [se afla] in the collection of the Brasov County Museum of History.
